Site search for CTA: comparison satellite -ground data

The CTA Consortium is currently studying different sites for the installa- tion of two observatories, one in each hemisphere. The first step of this study consists on a global characterization of the regions of interest, using data collected by instruments placed on satellites. In order to validate the use of these data for the final site evaluation, testing against contemporane- ous ground measurements is required. In this work we present the results obtained in the search of correlation between atmospheric data provided by MODIS instrument (installed on NASA satellites,Terra and Aqua) and various ground based instruments installed in Argentina.
