New radio observations of the southern radio galaxy Cen A are used to estimate the ultra-high energy cosmic ray production in the source. It is assumed that the particle acceleration is produced by a first-order Fermi mechanism in a kpc-scale radio lobe of the galaxy. Propagation losses are briefly discussed. Arrival energies up to ~ 2 * 1021 eV are expected.
