Resumen:
Different studies indicate that patients with epilepsy report that their quality of life is signi!-cantly affected. In addition, it has been reported that patients with epilepsy (PWE) have higherrates of mental disorders than the general population, as will be discussed later on in this chapter. Some of the consequences of this disease have a well-recognized impact on the lives of patients, such as the severity of seizures, its frequency, and the perception of self-control and autonomy; butsome others are not, such as social (discrimination, bullying), emotional, occupational, and cognitiveperformance. Commonly, the main target of the usual treatments aims to diminish the frequency and severity of seizures; but the psychosocial problems are frequently left aside, making an importantimpairment of the quality of life of these patients and their families.
