In a study case, the function and evolution of the cricket call, we try delineate some answers for the following questions: Is the systemic analysis applied only to figure out the control mechanism of a behavior?Is the systemic analysis enough to elucidate functional language?Is the question about function an evolutionary question?What explains what? How is the function of a behavioral trait determined?
