Resumen:
The development of systems allowing the therapeutic drugs administration precisely controlled is a challenge that depends both on the development of new technologies and on basic research in the health area. In this paper we present the development of a closed loop system controlled by myoelectric signals capable of infusing dopamine doses according to its metabolic demand. The system combines technological devices, such as Raspberry Pi and Arduino systems, connected to a micropump activated by the EMG signal. This development was applied to a neurotoxic model of Parkinson's disease in rats, which produces sustancia nigra neurons depletion and, therefore, motor deficits. The tests performed showed that dopamine infusion restores baseline values of the muscle parameters. Although this development raises the evaluation of the infusion system in a parkinsonian model with dopamine deficiency, the application could be extended to other neurological or neurodegenerative diseases.
