This short communication presents the development of an electronic control system for a hospital bed through voice commands. The main idea for this project was to give a bedridden patient with quadriplegia the ability to control the position of his bed at will. Although at first this work was carried out for a particular patient, a second stage is in progress. This involves a more general system based on embedded systems and it is easily adaptable to the different cases of Tucumán?s Provincial Health System. In addition, the scope of the developments could be expanded to the private and/or home environment.
