Resumen:
The vibrissal system is present in many mammals but especially developed in rodents. Whiskers, or tactile hairs, are the means by which certain species collect tactile information from the nearby environment that is essential for their survival. Relevant advances in the comprehension of mechanical and physiological aspects of follicle-sinus complex (FSC) mechanoreceptors activation have been reached with the mathematical models helps provided the first proposal for the mechanism of tactile sensory encoding. Recently, it was proposed that, different frequency whisker stimulation is a powerful tool that allows to visualize neural activity in the somatosensory cortex in response to the stimulation of a single whisker by different frequencies. In this work, we propose to associate FSC mecanoreceptors response to the specific vibrissal shaft by studying the frequency mechanical activation. We found that the activity evoked in the FSC has a similar behavior to the mechanical response obtained from an isolated vibrissa and each FSC studied are tuning with its corresponding vibrisa.
