Resumen:
The family of polyphenolic flavonoids presents estrogenic, anti-allergenic, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, vasodilating and anti-tumoral effects. Their pharmacological activity depends on the chemical structure. In particular, Chrysin and Silibinin are interesting members of this family, with potent antiproliferative effects against various malignant cells. Bioavailability of these substances is improved by complexation with organic compounds or by metal coordination. Oxovanadium(IV) compounds show interesting pharmacological activity mainly as insulin enhancers, osteogenic and anti-tumoral agents.
