Pierre Auger Observatory

This note presents the performances of an upgraded version of the current SD LED flasher, realized in Torino thinking at the requirements of the Auger North Observatory. Preserving a conform pulse shape, the maximum light intensity obtained with the described LED system is largely enough to cover the extended energetic range of the North array. Results from PMT linearity measurements performed with the new flashers, have been found, in the overlapping range, equivalent to the same ones obtained with the old flashers. In addition the LED system can be used to test the whole trigger and communication chain. A prototype LED digital controller providing the possibility to synchronize the LED flasher of different stations has been produced and tested in Malargüe.
