Resumen:
The purpose of this document is to evaluate different alternatives for the water level sensor for the southern Pierre Auger Observatory. Due to possible leakages of the water container for the Surface detectors [1], it is necessary to detect when the water level is lower than the regular level. Water level is an important parameter of our surface detectors because the response to incoming particles depends on it. The VEM charge depends linearly with the height on the water level, so it is very important to always have the same water level. All the alternatives analyzed in this document are hardware alternatives, but there is a possibility to measure the water level by analyzing the calibration data [2]. First, we describe the requirements for this sensor as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each type of sensor. Finally, in the summary you can see the proposed sensor.
