Resumen:
This work studies the feasibility of a UVC-LED assisted photo-Fenton system for simultaneous CECs and bacteria removal. E. coli, C. perfringens and CECs removal were assessed in continuous flow operation at three experimental conditions: UVC light, UVC light/H2O2/0.05 mM Fe3+-NTA and UVC light/H2O2/0.1 mM Fe3+-NTA. After 30 min of treatment in batch mode, E. coli and C. perfringens reached the EU 2020/741 validation (≥5 log10 reduction) and monitoring (≤10 CFU/100 mL) objectives, except when operating at 0.1 mM Fe3+-NTA. In continuous flow operation, disinfection objectives were not attained for C. perfringens regardless of the experimental conditions. Thus, extended HRTs would be required in continuous flow to achieve disinfection objectives set for C. perfringens. CECs degradation improved as the presence of Fe3+-NTA increased, attaining 63.5% (0.1 mM Fe3+-NTA), 35% (0.05 mM Fe3+-NTA) and 8.5% (only UVC light) removal. As conclusion, sequencing batch reactor operation around 30-min cycle time is suggested as the best approach.
