Resumen:
Evidence suggests that chronic stress may have a profound negative effect on the immune activity of all vertebrates. Apparently significant rise in plasma corticosteroids decreases immunity to redirect resources towards activities that are more immediately valuable to survival. Stress response is modulated by glucocorticoids and its production is regulated by the Hipothalamic pituitary-interrenal (HPI) axis in fish, amphibian and reptiles. Crocodilians face numerous stressors such as climatic factors, toxicant exposure and infection.
