Resumen:
Safe, clean and efficient energy storage systems are currently being evaluated due to the great need to store renewable energy or the high energy requirements for electric mobility applications. For thisreason, Metal-Sulfur batteries research is increasing. One of the most promising routes is the valorization of two by-products generated on a large scale: (i) beer bagasse (brewing industry), and (ii)pistachio shells (agri-food industry). Biocarbons with suitable textural properties can be prepared by a simple, easily and scalable thermal method, which will be used as conductive matrices for theaccommodation of sulfur in the preparation of sustainable Metal-S batteries (Li-S and Na-S) from abundant raw materials. The proposal of this research is achieving a prototyping in pouch cells.
