Resumen:
We seek to provide a formal definition of the inner value of ecosystems conceived as networks of taxa. For this purpose, we take an information-theoretical version of the concept of free energy. The idea is to formulate it as defined on a compact real interval, providing a measure of the environmental value of the ecosystem itself, regardless of the services it can provide.
