Resumen:
The catalytic oxidehydrogenation of ethylbenzene to styrene is studied in a membrane reactor. Oxygen is continuously fed by permeation across the surface of the membrane. A pseudo-homogeneous model predicts the performance of this reactor. An extended Fick’s law is used to describe multi-component diffusion in radial direction. The simulation study shows that it is possible to attain high selectivity to styrene and high levels of production with a reactor that there are no hot spots.
