Calcium plays a key role in many neuronal processes such as excitability, memory, communication, Long Term Potentiation and Long Term Depression. Our work focuses on the study of calcium signals mediated by IP3 receptors. These channels are located in the ER membrane and therefore they interact with both cytosolic and luminal calcium. Their opening depends on binding calcium and IP3. We are interested in the role that luminal calcium plays during the opening of the IP3 receptors.
