Resumen:
Size and chemical composition of particulate matter are the two principal parameters thataffect the way in which they affect health. PM10 (particulate matter <10 μm in aerodynamic diameter) can penetrate deeply into human lungs. In addition, PM2.5 (particulate matter <2,5 μm in aerodynamic diameter) can penetrate even more deeply into the alveoli of the lungs. Their concentration varies spatially and temporally and is connected to the sourcesof aerosols and their transformations in the atmosphere. Receptor models (also referred toas multi-variate source apportionment models) are mathematical or statistical procedures foridentifying the sources of air pollutants at a receptor location. They are based on the correlationsbetween the concentrations of the species. This work presents the results of applying SR-XRF and a receptor modelling to determine the sources of particulate matter at an urban and a semi-urban sites of Córdoba City.
