Resumen:
The use of pesticides has become a problem around the world. These chemicals can find their way into streams and rivers, which produces an adverse impact on aquatic biota, including fish. In this study we used biomarkers of oxidative damage: lipid peroxidation (TBARS), antioxidant defenses: catalase (CAT) and glutathione (GSH) in liver tissue, and genotoxicity: Micronucleus frequency (MNF) in erythrocytes of Prochilodus lineatus exposed in vivo to Cypermethrin (0.300, 0.150, 0.075 and 0.000 μg/L for 96h). CAT showed a significant decrease (p0.05 for all cases). A significant increase was observed in the MNF in the group exposed to 0.3μg/L of Cypermethrin compared to negative control (p
