Resumen:
In the present work, the design, synthesis and characterization of a NPT composed of three materials with very different properties are shown: magnetite (Fe3O4), applied as an smart drug delivery system, in the sense that it can increase the concentration of any therapeutic drug using an external magnetic field; gold (Au) which it is chemically inert, and can coat the Fe3O4 core, protecting it against oxidation and corrosion, in addition to exhibit unique plasmonic properties; and mesoporous silica (mSiO2), with tunable pores size and easy to derivatize, which encapsulate the Fe3O4@Au core and convert it into a biocompatible system. The properties of the excited states of organic molecules can be affected when they are near to a gold nanoparticle, due to its plasmonic effect. In our case, when RB was attached to NPT, a significant increase (1.5 times) in the quantum yield of singlet oxygen generation was observed, in comparison with free RB. This study was performed by UV-Vis spectrophotometry, using 9,10-anthracenediyl-bis(methylene)dimalonic acid (ABDA) in water as solvent. In addition, this effect was corroborated by the laser flash photolysis technique, comparing the amount of 3RB* generated in the different media.
