Resumen:
We have found that alfa-hydroxyacids accelerate the Diels?Alderreaction of dibutyl vinylboronate with cyclopentadiene. Whenstoichiometric quantities are used, excellent yields are obtained,while catalytic activities are moderate. DFT calculations suggestedthat the activation of the dienophile occurs by ligand exchange withboth functionalities of the alfa-hydroxyacid.
