Cognitive Polyphasia and indigenous exclusion in Argentinean collective memory

This paper reports findings from a study carried out in a town founded during the Argentinean ?Conquest of The Desert? by the military forces. It was possible to identify, in the descents of both militaries and Europeans, two different narratives about this historical process: an account about the genocide and the goods looted by Argentinean militaries and another one about the peaceful coexistence of militaries and indigenous. We consider the juxtaposition of these two narratives as an expression of a state of cognitive polyphasia.
