Pregnancy planning and reproductive health care in women with bipolar disorder

Background: Women with bipolar disorder (BD) are considered a group at risk of practicing unsafe sex and having unplanned pregnancies (UP). Objective of this study was to investigate reproductive health measures of women with BD diagnosis in usual treatment condition. Conclusions: Euthymic BD in usual treatment consitions keep an adequate reproductive health care. The previous adverse reproductive history of BD women underscores the need of more awareness between health profesionals of sexually risky behaviour when unstable illness.
