In this work, some aspects about the phenomena that take place during the production of heterogeneous materials via polymerization by free radicals are discussed. There are some questions about phase inversion, especially when it is tried to correlate this process with the morphology generated in situ. Some models have been proposed to interpret the experimental evidence from different points of view. However, until present none of them is able to explain in conclusive way the behavior of these systems. In this work some experimental results obtained in the synthesis of HIPS in the presence of low molecular weight PS ended in nitroxide groups are presented. Its morphology is analyzed based on the existing models.
