Resumen:
Abstract: 21 In order to describe the epidemiology of cystic ovarian disease (COD), to find possible risk 22 factors associated with the incidence of cysts and to analyze the impact of COD on the 23 reproductive performance of dairy cows, databases from 22 dairy herds from the main dairy 24 region in Argentina were retrospectively evaluated throughout a three-year period (2009-25 2011). A total of 248 COD cases over 9,156 parturitions were recorded, resulting in a 26 cumulative incidence rate of 2.7%. COD distribution frequency was higher during winter 27 and spring. Only 25% of cases occurred within the first 60 days post-partum, with a higher 28 incidence relative to the population at risk by 100-150 days in milk. Cows with a previous 29 diagnosis of clinical mastitis showed 2.72 times more chances of developing ovarian cysts. 30 Cystic cows had longer calving to first service and calving to conception intervals than 31 controls and lower conception rate.
