Relevance of the Hall effect in turbulent dynamos

In this talk we present theoretical and numerical evidence that the generally neglected Hall term in the equations for two fluid magnetohydrodynamics have a profound effect on large-scale dynamo action. A new calculation, in addition to subsuming the standard results from the mean field approach, contains contributions to the turbulent transport dynamo coefficients entirely due to the Hall current in the microscale.
