Resumen:
A brief summary of the PAC applications in biological systems is presented and the commonly used PAC probes are listed. After a discussion about the proteins that interact with metals, the experimental features of PAC studies in proteins are discussed. The conformational and biochemical characteristics of the system of interest, carbonic anhydrase, are showed. As these macromolecules were discovered to play an important role in the progression of tumours, the development of inhibitors of these proteins constitutes a fertile field of research. The chemical nature of the inhibitors is also discussed. Following a brief comment of the previous PAC studies in carbonic anhydrase, our planned PAC studies in the systems carbonic anhydrase-inhibitors is presented.
