Resumen:
The Fumagillin is the only antibiotic allowed to healNosemosis in Uruguay. This is disease caused by amicrosporidian infection, most frequently observed parasitic pathologiesaffecting adult honeybees. Although its use is currently limited to thecontrol of the disease in the breeding of queen bees, to avoid contaminating the honeyproduction. National research suggests that inUruguay N. apis have been displacedby N. ceranae, and the latter is the onlymicrosporidian present today. We performed a study to investigate theefficacy of Fumagillin against this parasite, comparing the results with thecommercial product efficacy ApiHerb. They installed two beehives, one in the north of thecountry (Salto), and one in the south (Canelones), hives infected with Nosemaceranae. Both were established three groups of 10 hives each. A) group treatedwith a weekly dose of fumagillin ..... gs, prepared Syrup 1:1, for three weeksB) Group treated with a weekly dose of Apiherb ..... gs, prepared syrup 1:1,for 4 weeks. C) Control group, treated only with 1:1 sugar syrup. The resultsshowed for both apiaries experimental treatments that fumagillin and Apiherb,no significant differences with the control treatment. In Salto, also analyzed whetherthere were differences in the development of hives spring of differenttreatments. Finding no effect of treatments on spring development. This studysuggests that these drugs do not control the parasite of interest, in the givenconditions for Uruguayan apiaries.
