Abstract
In this paper I propose that not all Latin prefixes can be analyzed in the same way. I present here the two most contrasting cases prefixation with cum with and prefixation with circum around- and I discuss from a syntactic word formation perspective, how to account for the differences they show. Moreover I try to prove that the particular properties of prepositional prefixes affect the morpho-phonological behavior of complex verbal heads.
