Resumen:
Metabolic syndrome is a risk factor for kidney disease. This study evaluated the effects of (-)-epicatechin (EC) supplementation on oxidative alterations and inflammation in the kidney of rats subjected to a model of metabolic syndrome. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into three groups: control group (C) receiving control diet and tap water; fructose group (F)  receiving control diet and 10% (w/v)  fructose in the drinking water and fructose + (-)-epicatechin group (F+EC) receiving fructose and the diet supplemented with EC (20 mg/kg BW/d).
