Resumen:
ABSTRACT: PALYNOSTRATIGRAPHICAL RESEARCH IN THE LOWER PALEOZOIC OF ZENTA RANGE, JUJUY PROVINCE, ARGENTINA. The Zenta range conforms one of the main mountain belts on the eastern section of the Cordillera Oriental, Jujuy Province, Argentina. Stratigraphical  prospections and palynological samplings were carried out in Abra de Zenta, Abra Límite, Abra Rocío, neighboring of Abra Blanca, Abra Azul, Laguna Verde, Abra Buey Ojo - Doblozno and Santa Ana - Caspalá. The paleomicroplankton (e.g., Acanthodiacrodium angustum (Downie) Combaz, Cymatiogalea velifera (Downie) Martin, Saharidia fragilis (Downie) Combaz from Abra de Zenta are attributed to the early Tremadocian. Three palynological assemblages from Abra Límite records the late Lower Tremadocian (e.g., Vulcanisphaera africana (Deunf) Rasul, Stelliferidium sp., Baltisphaeridium sp.), the Silurian?-Devonian (e.g., Angochitina chlupaci Paris and Laufeld, Hoegisphaera glabra Staplin), and the Carboniferous (Cristatisporites stellatus (Azcuy) Gutierrez and Limarino, Granulatisporites varigranifer Menéndez and Azcuy). The assemblage from Abra Rocío supports a Pennsylvanian age (e.g., Cristatisporites chacoparanensis Ottone, Divarisaccus stringoplicatus Ottone). Monosaccates and trilete spores from the surroundings of Abra Blanca propose a Pennsylvanian age for the outcrops. In Laguna Verde acritarchs and prasinophytes (e.g., Eisenackidium orientalis Rubinstein, Stellechinatum uncinatum (Downie) Molyneux, Vavrdovella areniga (Vavrdova  Loeblich y Tappan) suggest a Darriwilian age. The section from Abra Buey Ojo - Dobloszno with Eisenackidium orientalis Rubinstein and species of Striatotheca are attributed to the Floian - Dapingian. These palynological data from Zenta Range allow to make an accurate dating of the stratigraphy previously established without fossils.
