Resumen:
Bunyaviridae family was established in 1975 to cover a large number of arthropod-borne viruses which share morphological, morphometric and antigenic features. The family name derives from Bwamba (Uganda, South Africa), where it was isolated for the first time from mosquito Aedes sp, Bunyamwera virus (BUNV), the prototype virus of the family. The classification of members of this family has historically relied on genetic, structural and antigenic relationships between different viruses.
