Resumen:
The article analyses two events of the sociability of Buenos Aires elite during the belle époque: the carnival and the parade in the Palermo parks. It argues that along this period the first one lost importance in the high life, while the second one became a distinctive appointment to the porteño elite. In this sense, the paper affirms that such process shows the construction of social distinction rites and the re-locations in the urban space experimented by the elite because of the growth of the society and the city of Buenos Aires between 1880 and 1910, which turned more tenuous the social differences, and, therefore, more urgent the necessity of trace distinctions for the traditional elite.
