Today?s organizations coexist in increasingly open markets, characterized by the globalization of products and services and management practices. Yet, competitive contexts vary depending on region-specific geographical and current economic and social features, including local historical developments. This makes it difficult to pursue the same strategic choices in different regions, even when in pursuit of the same goals. To address this challenge, this chapter outlines the key theoretical frameworks that CEOs should bear in mind when making strategic decisions and the specific traits of emerging markets, with a special focus on Latin America.
