Resumen:
Pityrogramma trifoliata (L.) R. M. Tryon is a farinous fern that produces both yellow and white farina. The color of the farina is closely related to its chemical composition. The yellow farina was previously analyzed, yielding three neoflavonoids named T-1 to T-3. However, the absolute configuration of these natural products was not assigned. In plants, flavonoids have a role in various functions: protection against ultraviolet and visible light; protection against insects, fungi, viruses, and bacteria. In addition, they function as antifungals, antibacterials and antioxidant angents.
