Resumen:
Fluorite is well known as an excellent tracer for REE fractionation in ore-forming processes. We present REE geochemical data of the host granites, hydrothermal alteration (greisenization) and fluorite associated with magmatic?hydrothermal deposits of quartz?wolframite?molibdenite type from the Cerro Áspero Mining District. From the available data, it can be established that the behavior of the REE in most of the fluorite studied samples cannot be explained from a direct inheritance from the host granites during fluid-rock interaction. On the contrary, it is suggested that the distribution of REE in fluorites reflects the primary characteristics of the mineralizing fluids under the influence of complexes with F- and CO3-2. We emphasize that the studied fluorites have REE distribution patterns that are unusual and do not correspond with worldwide examples of similar geological environments. Fluorite with relative enrichment of intermediate REE and positive Tb anomalies could be considered a useful prospecting tool for wolframite and molybdenite mineralizations in this district.
