Resumen:
The goal of this study goal was to assess the main factors affecting escape strategies (escaping or burying) in Sand Dune Lizard (Liolaemus multimaculatus). We recorded several variables in the field, and performed an experiment to test whether predator types (aerial or terrestrial) affects escape behaviour. A logistic regression identified the distance to shelter (P < 0.001) as the unique predictor of escape behaviour, showing that the frequency of the sand-burying behaviour increased with distance to shelter. As for closure tests, a contingency table did not show significant differences (P = 0.62), agreeing with the fact that escape strategy displayed by lizards does not depend on predator type.
