Resumen:
This paper analyses and systematizes the scope, limitations and challenges of official sources of information in Argentina over the past 15 years in order to monitor the exercise of the right to health by the elderly population. It includes a compilation of indicators and analyses the possibilities of implementation from human rights perspective. These indicators are mostly proposed by the Latin American and Caribbean Demographic Centre (CELADE) ? Population Division of Economic Commission for Latin American and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in the framework of various international development conferences ?the Montevideo Consensus between them- that agree to apply the human rights approach in dealing with issues of population and development. One of the main conclusions is the fact that Argentina has a set of information sources that allows a large number of indicators to be addressed. However, the main sources of information for key measures in this population group do not support tracking of differences between socioeconomic and geographical groups, or their development, which means that they do not admit an approach based on the human rights perspective.
