The main goal of this fieldtrip is to link both volcanic and sedimentary evolution in a conspicuous foreland basin developed in the Puna- Cordillera Oriental boundary (Fig. 1). The present-day active tectonic produce a very young relief especially evident in the dynamic of the geomorphology along Cuesta the Lipán which is also our objective. The first part of this guidebook presents a description of the physiographic characteristic of the region that we will be passing through the trip and a brief overview of the geology of the sedimentary basins and volcanism. The second part provides details descriptions of the specific localities that we will visit.
