Resumen:
We have studied the Mössbauer spectra of YBa2(Cu1−xFex)3O7+δ for several Fe concentrations (0.0018 ⩽ x ⩽ 0.10). We describe the experimental data with three doublets, A, B, and C, showing quadrupole splittings of 1.91(6), 1.10(6), and 0.55(6)mm/s, and isomer shifts of −0.07(2), −0.09(6), and 0.03(3)mm/s, respectively. At low concentrations doublet C dominates the spectrum and doublet B does it at the highest concentrations. Doublet A was only observed for x ⩾ 0.01 and always with low relative intensity. We compare the measured quadrupole splitting with theoretical calculations for different local oxygen environments of Fe ions. We also analyze the correlation of the Mossbauer spectra with X-ray diffraction data and the superconducting properties, as a function of x. Data on the Mossbauer and Electron Spin Resonance spectra of the impurity phases Y2BaCuO5 and BaCuO2 are also reported.
