Resumen:
According to A.L. Van Gijn (2014) the interconnectivity of tools and objects in a larger technological, and hence cultural, system potentially generates an enormous degree of complexity and variation (Conneller, 2011 and Ingold, 2007). In this sense we approached to understand the use of quartz micro wedges (from bipolar cores in most of the cases) founded in Middle/Late Holocene archaeological components of Alero Deodoro Roca (DRR), a site with hunter-gatherers occupations in different levels dated between ca. 7.000 and 2.000 years BP (Cattáneo et al 2013) using technological and micro-wear studies accompanied of FTIR analysis of residues recovered on the active edge of the tools. This type of artifact is characterized traditionally to split different kind of materials but specially wood (e.g. Ranere 1975). This idea challenged us to discriminate the potential use for working exclusively wood or also bones which we found split in order to consume the narrow in different archaeological levels of DRR (Costa 2015). Also, blind crosscheck analysis was made studying materials from surrounding areas of the tools, as: sediments, charcoal, plants, or fresh Lama sp meat and leather.
