Resumen:
The biotrophic fungus Puccinia sorghi L Schw. (PS) is responsible for common rust, an endemic disease of corn. Here we report a de novo partial assembly of the genome of PS race Rojas-2010 obtained by Illumina sequencing. DNA sequences coming from contamination were excluded and contigs that are likely to be part of the mitochondria of the fungus were identified. We also developed Single Sequence Repeats (SSR) markers for the study of the genetic variability between different races of PS.
