Sol gel coatings to prevent fungus growth on bricks

Building materials such as bricks are exposed to the microbiological colonization and without proper prevention they are affected by immediate deterioration. Therefore, the aim of this research was assessed the antifungal performance of sol gel (mercaptopropyltrimethoxy‐silane) based coatings on bricks that have the vantage that not change the material aspect. The bio‐resistant test was carried out using isolated fungi from La Plata city, Argentine. The sol gel coating showed to be effective to inhibition of the fungal growth.
