A recombinant strain of BHV-1 was generated by deletion of the gE gene. the deletions was carried out through homologous recombination in cotransfection assays using a wild tpe viral DNA and a plasmid carrying the Beta-galalactosidase gene. Positive transfectants were characterized after several cloning passages. replication in cell cultures of BHV1gEminus did not show significant differences compared with the wild type control.The vaccine was inoculated in 10 bovines. The humoral and cellular ( cytokines and lymprhoproliferation assay) were performed in order to comapre to the values obtained for the parental strain.
