While improvements in gait quality following selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) have been documented, there is still some controversy in recent literature on the effect of SDR on muscle strength and control. Some have shown a decrease in strength after SDR [1] while others have shown no change [2]. Muscle activations have shown a counterintuitive response, with Shuman et al. [3] showing no change in muscle synergies following SDR.Research question: Are individual muscle forces altered during walking after SDR?
