In this project we investigated the effect of above plot light availability on the growth of understory trees. The objective was to help in the design of partial cuts harvests to produce the most desirable light conditions for regeneration. With this objective, we analyzed the development of natural regeneration in four types ofcutting: uniform shelterwood, irregular shelterwood, strip shelterwood, and expanding group cuts.
