Resumen:
A set of gold(I) complexes bearing galactopiranoside-incorporated N-heterocyclic carbene ligands (1a-d) have been synthetized from the corresponding imidazolium salts via transmetalation of the intermediate silver(I) complex [1]. All gold(I) complexes were found to be stable at air and up to three days at 80 °C.Based on previous reports [2], we decide to examine whether this new compounds are useful for the development of new catalysts. To accomplish this, the complexes 1a and 1b and their respective imidazolium salts (2) were used in the hydration of phenylacetylene as model reaction, in H2O or H2O/MeOH as solvent, at 80 °C, for 12 h. The preliminary catalytic studies indicate that the tested complexes are active, recyclable and reusable, using H2O/MeOH mixture at 80 °C. As expected, studies with the imidazolium salts were not satisfactory.
