In this work we present a study made at Tandar Laboratory to characterize thesensitivity to the water column height of some parameters used for detectorcalibration. It is shown that these parameters are sensitive enough to know thewater level in the detector tanks deployed in the field with accuracy of a fewcentimeters and without requiring any external dedicated device. A procedure based on the analysis of the detector data, which is being routinelycollected by the Pierre Auger Observatory could serve for early detection ofeventual loss of the water level. We propose that this level monitoring routine beperformed automatically at CDAS by analyzing the data normally collected fromthe detectors.
