Resumen:
Currently, long-term care services are considered socially accepted alternativesthat meet the needs for assistance and accommodation of older persons, especially insituations of dependency. Their design and expansion are conditioned by a newphenomenon: global aging and its multi-generational society. This work studies the current situation of long-term care services in Argentina. Itidentifies the new standards of Elder Law set by the Inter American Convention on theProtecting of Human Rights of Older Persons to contrast them with the Argentinianlegal system on long-term care. Besides, it analyzes the clash between the way theseservices are currently provided, and the new human rights and it considers thepioneering Argentinian judicial criteria about long-term care facilities. Finally, it pointsout the main aspects that should be considered to implement a necessary socialchange and legal reform in Argentina
