Resumen:
Tenebrionidae are representad in the country by six subfamilies, 34 tribes, 108 genera, and 488 species (320 endemic). Their taxonomic history, tables with the taxonomic diversity of the subfamilies and specific diversity of the genera, a list of the museums and collections of Argentina and abroad, and the main institutions when types were depositad are given. A table summarizing tribal and generic revisions during the last 50 ycars is also given. Most studies on this family in Argentina have dealt with adult taxonomy, and little is known about inunature stages, biology, ecology, and cytogenetics of the spccies. Knowledge un physiology, phylogeny, and biogeography is also very scarce. The economical, ecological, and scientific importance are analyzed, and the main environmental changes that threaten local faunas are mentioned. There is wide spectrum of possibilities to undertake future research on Tenebrionidae in Argentina.in Argentina have dealt with adult taxonomy, and little is known about inunature stages, biology, ecology, and cytogenetics of the spccies.
