Resumen:
The spleen histology and haemopoiesis of adult and new borns of Chaetophractus villosus were studied. Adult spleen has a well developed capsular-trabecular system, typical white and red pulps and a "intermediate zone" between them. Adult haemopoiesis is performed chiefly in the red line. Newborn has a less diferentiated spleen, myeloid in nature. The general structure of the spleen of Chaetophractus villosus is similar to those of ancient mammals as Monotremata and Insectivora.
